TRADITIONAL Procedure
Paulo Luz will produce and photograph the subject to use the photo as refererence while creating the portrait painting & drawing.
Many famous Portrait artists from all over the world, from the past until today use this traditional procedure to create a Portrait. The Artist with the control of the production and photographing the subject, is able to choose the appropriate lighting effect, background, pose and composition that he visualizes for the portrait. The photography in a great benefit for the Art of Portraiture in circumstances such as a Pet, Baby, child, action and expression poses that would be impossible to hold in a life sitting Portrait. The quality of the portrait will be the same as a life sitting, the photography, is just more convenient for the subject and artist.
THE PROCEDURE
1 First meeting
There is many possibilities and unlimited imagination in the creation of a portrait. All starts with an initial meeting, this is an opportunity for us to get better acquainted and discusses the specifics of the Portrait such as: size, pose, mood, background, wardrobe, location, etc… and your lkes and dislikes and what you are looking for in a Portrait.
This first meeting can take place in the location of your choice, by phone, or on Skype in a video conference, the meeting can take about 1 hour. You can schedule the first meeting in time that is most convenient for you. Send me the dates and location for us to have the initial meeting by the contact page or email. If possible give me few options of dates. I will respond you by email to confirm the date for our first meeting.
2 Photo shooting
After our concept discussion, You can schedule the photo shoot on the date of your choice in the location previously discussed related to the Portrait. The photo session can take approximately 1 to 2 hours depending on the scope of your Portrait. I will take as many photos as needed. We will review the photos on site together and select a few photos to be use as reference for the portrait.
3 Layout of the Portrait
Back at my studio I wil review the selected photos and choose the most expressive that inspires me for the Portrait. Based on the Photo selected I will create a Lay-out of the Portrait and send to you for your approval, changes, alteration and suggestions that can be made at this time. Once the Portrait Lay-out is agreed, I will start the Final Portrait Based on the approved Lay-out and the reference material.
4 Work in progress
During the Painting process of the Final Portrait I will send you photos by email of the progress, at this time you can give some suggestion.
5 Final Approval
When I’m completely satisfied and proud of my Fine Art Portrait, I will send a High definition Photograph by email or you can come to my studio for the final approval. After the final approval I will send to you the final invoice once the balance is received, I will contact you to schedule the delivery and the revealing.
Normally the total time is approximately 2-4 months depending on size and complexity of the Portrait.
